Brisbane Maxillofacial Surgery - Brisbane's Best Maxillofacial
Brisbane Maxillofacial Surgery is a specialist practice with a focus on surgery of the face, jaw and mouth.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, we ask that you please bring the following to your appointment:
Please note that we are sometimes sent the referral and imaging directly from your doctor. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact us.
During the consultation, you will meet the surgeon, review your referral and past medical history, and discuss your symptoms and/or condition. During this time, the doctor may examine the affected area and review any recent imaging you have. The doctor will discuss the diagnosis and treatment options available as well as the ricks involved and what recovery may look like. The consultation is also the best time for you to ask questions and/or raise any concerns you may have. Consultations are typically around 30 minutes long.
At the end of your consultation, the doctor will work with you to formulate a treatment plan. Treatment plans vary case-by-case but can include same-day treatment, a referral for further imaging/tests, plans for a future procedure or even a referral to another specialist. You may be given brochures to peruse and a quote for your proposed treatment. Our reception staff can also provide an idea of available surgery dates, if necessary.
You will be advised of your consultation fees prior to your appointment. Payment is required, in full, on the day. We ask that if you wish to pay by cash, you bring exact change. If you have a referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on your consultation.
If you require surgery, a quote will generally be provided after your appointment. This quote can be taken to your health fund to get an idea on the amount you will be able to claim back. We will also provide hospital & anaesthetist estimates and information if necessary.
Our friendly team will do their best to assist with any Medicare and health insurance queries that you may have. Your health insurance may not cover the consultation but could cover the surgery and/or hospital fees. We encourage you to speak to your health fund to understand your level of cover.
We understand life can be unpredictable and you may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If so, please contact our team as soon as possible either via phone or email.
